NCURA

The National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) is an organization of individuals with professional interests in the administration of sponsored programs (research, education, and training) primarily at colleges and universities, with a common desire to:

  • Promote the development of more effective policies and procedures.
  • Provide a forum for discussion and exchange of information and experience.
  • Promote the development of college and university research administration as a professional field.

NCURA has been very active with ERA issues. In 1996, NCURA sponsored "Ushering in a New ERA" their first conference dedicated to ERA. In 1997, NCURA sponsored ERA II: The Sequel and, again, 1998, ERA III. In addition, in 1995 the then-President of NCURA had the foresight to recognize that the future of research administration would be greatly affected by the advent of ERA, so he formed a National Select Committee on ERA. This committee works together to educate the NCURA membership on issues specific to ERA.

Several past issues of NCURA's newsletter have included articles on ERA issues. These articles have included:

Last, but not least, NCURA has devoted a section of their home page to ERA topics. Included is a synopsis of agency initiatives, links to agency form templates and research tools, information about upcoming ERA conferences, and links to information about listservers for research administrators.
