NIH 2271

One of the most time-consuming and tedious NIH activities has been the yearly completion of PHS Form 2271 (Training Grant's Statement of Appointment). For each individual trainee, researchers or their administrators have had to fill out a form that included data that was repeated over and over. This activity was always extremely frustrating.

Until now! PHS has developed an on-line version of the Statement of Appointment. Information, such as the PI information, grant-specific data, etc. is already entered into the system. This simple action saves the researchers and administrators an incredible amount of time. Now time is focused on what information NIH actually needs: the trainee information. While this electronic form is still in the testing phase, it is expected to go fully on-line in the near future.
